Wick (Cotton and Silica)
Different wicks provide different attributes like wicking speed, flavour and ease of use. Silica wick is the most common e-cigarette wick and is used in most clearomisers. If you didn't build your own coil then you probably have silica wick in your atomiser right now. Another huge benefit of silica is that it can't be overheated, so there's no need to worry about under dripping.
Cotton is increasingly becoming the most popular wicking material for DIY builders. It absorbs juice very quickly and can hold a huge amount of liquid. However, there is a 'cottony' taste when vaping that some people don't like (although this typically diminishes once the cotton has been broken in. Dry hits with cotton wicks taste horrible, and to maintain good flavour clarity you should replace the wick ever few days.
